Dale C. Woofter, 79, Hoxie, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1929, near Colby to Walter (Babe) and Helen Carrier Woofter.
He married Gladys Shipley on Nov. 29, 1949, in Hoxie. He was a well driller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; five sons, Jay, Hoxie, Michael and Carl, both of Colby, Walter, Overland Park, and Alan, Imperial, Neb.; a foster son, Troy Meitler, Halstead; two daughters, Sherida Shoff, Goodland, and Sue Lanning, Colby; a brother, Duane Woofter, Lincoln, Neb.; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hoxie Christian Church; burial in Hoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.
Memorials are suggested to Alcoholics Anonymous in care of the funeral home.
