Olivia Legleiter, 91, formerly of Hays, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Smoky Hills Rehab Center, Salina.

She was born May 14, 1918, in Hays to Mike and Mary (Stecklein) Befort.

She married Julius J. Legleiter on Aug. 25, 1941, in Schoenchen. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1977. She was a former Travenol employee and a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Hays Medical Center Auxiliary and Veterns of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Legleiter and wife, Helen, Salina, and Dave Legleiter and wife, Kay, Minneapolis; a daughter, Firma Schmidt and husband, Gary, Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, George Befort, Mesa, Ariz., and Jim Befort, Broomfield, Colo.; three sisters, Mary Leiker, Rose Ann Giebler and Dorothy Gottschalk, all of Hays; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bill, Albinus, Adam, Mike, Ralph, Robert and Harold Befort; and four sisters, Ida Gross, Sister Firmina Befort, Esther Riedel and Helen Weaver.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church; burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Antonino.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., a VFW Auxiliary at 6 p.m., followed by a vigil at 6:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Smoky Hill Rehab Center, Salina, in care of the funeral home.
