Patricia 'Pat' Ann Gabel

Patricia "Pat" Ann Gabel, 76, Hays, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born May 14, 1938, in Ness County to Fred and Alice (Pember) Burdett.

She married George Thomas in 1956. He preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Gene Gabel on Oct. 7, 1961. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 2013. She worked at Farm Credit in Ness City for many years until retirement.

She was a member of Christian Mothers Altar Society.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Gabel and wife, Susan, La Crosse, Todd Gabel and wife, Lisa, Hays; two daughters, Tammy Seib and husband, Eric, Ness City, and Tara Witthuhn and husband, Toby, Garden City; a sister, Myra Stout; seven grandchildren, Chad Reinert, Tyson Reinert, Caitlin Gabel, Jessica Gabel, Jared Gabel, Taylor Gabel and Tyler Witthuhn; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Jase Reinert.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kerby Thomas; and two brothers, Richard F. and James Burdett.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City.

Viewing will be until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Ness County Historical Bank Building Foundation in care of the funeral home.
