Patricia M. "Patsy" Pfannenstiel, 83, Hays, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.
She was born March 16, 1929, in Pfeifer to George and Christina (Jacobs) Roth. She grew up in Pfeifer and was a 1948 graduate of Schoenchen High School.
She married Alfred F. Pfannenstiel on June 12, 1954, in Pfeifer, and together they farmed the family farm south of Munjor. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1961. She then moved to Hays and raised her daughters. She retired from American States Insurance Co. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and grandmother.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, and served on the Cancer Council of Ellis County Polkafest committee.
Survivors include four daughters, Myra Meyer and husband, Dan, Liberty, Mo., Mona Corkill and husband, John, Gladstone, Mo., Michelle Francis and husband, Russ, Manhattan, and Melissa Holub, Hays; 13 grandchildren, Miranda, Devin and Dexter Meyer, Tyler, Alyssa, Shelby and Haley Corkill, Whitney, Kylee and Derek Francis, Zachary, Madison and Grant Holub; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Linus, Alvin, Celestine and Alfred Roth; and eight sisters, Minnie Wellbrock, Tina Rohleder, Sally Wellbrock, Teckla Jacobs, Viola Stecklein, Alice Leiker, Vicki Harris and Lilly Basgall.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor.
Visitation will be be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
A VFW Auxiliary service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Ellis Good Samaritan Society or American Stroke Association, in care of the funeral home.
