Paul Calvin Foos, 83, Bazine, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Ness County Hospital, Ness City.
He was born Aug. 14, 1930, north of Bazine to Philip J. and Mary (Isheim) Foos. He attended all eight grades at Victory Country School and was a 1948 graduate of Bazine High School.
He married Shirley Johnson on Aug. 15, 1950, in Ness City. He was a bookkeeper for Bazine Co-op. He was a farmer and rancher and he was involved in many civic organizations. He was a member of Bazine United Methodist Church.
He was a 4-H leader while his sons were members. He was a member of the American Angus Association, the Kansas Livestock Association and the Bazine Credit Union. In December of 1967, he and Ross Potter, Arnold, won a Goodyear Conservation tour to Arizona. He served on the Bazine USD No. 304 School Board, the Farm Bureau Board, the K-State Experiment Station, Garden City Board, the Ness County District 2 Hospital Board, and the Ness County Healthcare Foundation Board. He was on the Ness County Hospital Board for nearly 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ken Foos and wife, Janice, Hays, and Steve Foos and wife, Jacquelyn, Ness City, and Kevin Foos and wife, Sonya, Bazine; seven grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Kendee, and their family, Mackenzie, Mallorie, and Gaiden, Spearville; Beth Foos and Jake Montoya, Salina, Ryan Foos and friend, Katlin Senst, Bazine, Jason Foos and wife, Danielle, and their son, Gunner, Ness City, Valarie Kraft and husband, Ryan, Baldwin City, Chyrisse Goodman and Kyle Leiker and their family, Kaiden, Kennedy and Karson, Hays; Amanda Larson and husband, Shawn, and their family, Jackson and Grayson, Hays; a sister-in-law, Glada Ummel, Arnold; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Johnson and wife, Joyce, Beeler, Paul Whipple, Fowler, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; a sister-in-law, Sharon Whipple; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Ummel.
Memorials are suggested to Bazine United Methodist Church or Ness County Hospital Foundation in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home.
Services were Friday at United Methodist Church, Bazine; burial in Bazine Cemetery.
