Peter C. Zerr, 87, Grainfield, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 27, 1926, south of Park. He attended Spring Creek country school and graduated from Park Rural High School.

He married Blanche Richmeier on Nov. 16, 1948, in St. Peter. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, of the family home; four sons, Dennis, Garden City, Kevin and Keith, both of Grinnell, and Darren, Baldwin City; a daughter, Lynette Steinbrecher, Denver; four brothers, Augustine, Quinter, Vince, Grinnell, Willie, Oakley, and Alex, Grainfield; four sisters, Betty Dreiling, Topeka, Emma Albers, Dodge City, Frances Mense, Grinnell, and Florence Mense, Hoxie; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield; burial in Grainfield City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a vigil immediately following at St. Agnes Religious Education Center, Grainfield.

Memorials are suggested to the "Welcome to the City of Grainfield" sign fund or the St. Agnes Catholic Church air-conditioning fund in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
