Phyllis Jean Helean, 80, Bucklin, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.

She was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Wichita to Dale T. and Stella Marie (Swayze) Brown. She was a 1946 graduate of Bucklin High School and attended business college.

She married Donald J. Helean on Dec. 20, 1950, in Bucklin. He preceded her in death March 7, 1996. She was a Avon sales representative and homemaker.

She was a member of Bucklin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and American Legion Auxiliary, Bucklin.

Survivors include a son, Michael D. Helean and wife, Doris, San Antonio; three daughters, Tracie A. Hearne and husband, Alvin, Hays, Kathleen K. Tully and husband, Dwight, Salina, and Susan M. Otterstein and husband, Mike, Dodge City; two sisters, Mary Lynn Fulton and husband, Ronnie, Bucklin, and Donna Decker and husband, Galen, Marietta Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bucklin United Methodist Church; burial in Bucklin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.

Memorials are suggested to Manor of the Plains Nursing Home or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the mortuary.
