Rae Vivian Zahradnik, 78, Lyons, formerly of Sterling, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Great Bend Regional Hospital.

She was born July 9, 1935, in Oklahoma City to Roy William and Eleanor (Mullinix) Revell. She was a graduate of Great Bend High School and Fort Hays State University with a bachelor's degree in education.

She married Gordon L. Zahradnik on June 7, 1959, in Wilson. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2013. She was a retired teacher from Sterling College and Wichita School District.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Lyons, FHSU Half Century Club, PEO Sterling, Retired Teachers Association, Kansas Water Color Society and Rice County Historical Society.

Survivors include a son, Zane Zahradnik and wife, Dawn, Windom; a daughter, April Brooks and husband, Brent, Lucas, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Celebration Centre, Lyons; burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Wilson City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.

Memorials are suggested to Rice County Foundation in care of the funeral home.
