Raymond E. Pierce, 78, Otis, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at St. John's Health Center, Hays.

He was born Feb. 15, 1934, in rural Thomas County to Orvel and Glenna (Stokes) Pierce.

He was a driller in the oilfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include a son, Dean Pierce, La Crosse; a daughter, Melissa Holder, Topeka; a brother, Walter Pierce, Jackson, Mo.; three sisters, Marjorie Wineland, Hays and Donna Metcalf, Nixa, Mo., and Iva Boyer; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City; burial in Morland City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Morland United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
