Harold R. Reifschneider, 88, La Crosse, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Ness City to Jake and Mollie (Eckes) Reifschneider.

He married Dorothy Busch on Sept. 24, 1945, in La Crosse. She preceded him in death Jan. 9, 1989. He later was married to Joyce Eldridge for 10 years. He was co-owner of Rush County Livestock Sales for 45 years with his brothers, LeRoy and Henry Reifschneider, until retirement in 1988 when the business was sold. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse.

Survivors include five sons, Bob Reifschneider and wife, LaRee, La Crosse, Frank Reifschneider and wife, Sharilyn, Garden City, Paul Reifschneider and wife, Michelle, Ness City, John Reifschneider and wife, Debbie, Lenexa, and Tom Reifschneider and wife, Lesa, Overland Park; a brother, LeRoy Reifschneider and wife, Marie, La Crosse; a sister, Helen Appel, Rush Center; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Lindsey Reifschneider; two brothers, Henry Reifschneider and Ed Reidschneider; and four sisters, Katie McMillian, Ida Crotinger, Esther Murray and Mollie Bott.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Rush County EMTs or Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse, in care of the funeral home.
