Richard D. "Bandit" Owen, 67, Ogallah, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at his home.

He was born Feb. 24, 1946, in Monahans, Texas, to William Thomas and Catherine (McNett) Owen.

He married Beverly Combs on June 23, 1973, in Conroe, Texas. She preceded him in death April 1, 2008. He later married Clarese Mong on Aug. 15, 2009, in Ogallah. He was a welder and truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Ogallah; three children, Ramsey D. Owen, Hays, George T. Owen, Bison, and Teresa C. Bruce, Hoisington; two brothers, Carroll Owen, Hoisington, and George Owen, Warrenton, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Lipton and Shirley Conrad, both of Atwood; and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, William J. Owen and Michael K. Owen; and a grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ogallah Christian Church; burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Stafford County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

Memorials are suggested to Richard D. Owen Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
