Richard L. LaPorte, 79, Plainville, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Hastings, Neb., to Victor J. and Adella L. (Komrofske) LaPorte.

He married Hazel LaPorte on Jan. 27, 1952, in Hastings.

Survivors include his wife, Plainville; six daughters, Teresa LaPorte and Brenda Koehler, both of Plainville, Pam Hayzlett, Lakin, Michelle LaPorte, Williston, N.D., Lisa Lyke, Buffalo, N.Y., and Mary Collins, Minneapolis; two brothers, Robert LaPorte, Hinkley, Ill., and James LaPorte, Hastings; a sister, Beverly Dedrick, Hastings; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Plainville; burial in Plainville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
