Riley L. Irwin, 79, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Via Christi/St. John's Nursing Home, Hays.

He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Russell to Russell and Gladys Irwin.

He married Doris J. Williamson on Dec. 31, 1954. She preceded him in death. He spent most of his life in Gorham, operating a service station and doing construction.

He was a member of Gorham Community Church and American Legion.

Survivors include four sons, Randy Irwin and wife, Marlene, and Craig Irwin and wife, Melissa, all of Hays, Troy Irwin and wife, Denise, Lexington, Ky., and Darren Irwin and wife, Pam, Salina; two sisters, Judy Wise and husband, Dallas, Colorado, and Arlene Ralston and husband, George, Mullinville; his special friend, Elda Heideman, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny; his parents; four brothers, John, Paul, Max and Marvin; and a sister, Bonnie.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gorham Community Church; burial in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Gorham.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

Memorials are suggested to Gorham Community Church or Via Christi/St. John's of Hays Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
