Robert "Bob" Mason, 62, Ellis, died Sunday, May 4 2014, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Independence to King and Sylvia (Kimzey) Mason.
He was a 1969 graduate of McCracken High School and attended Fort Hays State University.
He married Lois Berland on Aug. 4, 1979, in Zurich. He was employed as an educator and counselor at Hugoton USD 210 and Sharon Springs USD 241, and served on the city council in Hugoton.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis.
He enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife, and was noted for his craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and inventions.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; a daughter, Courtney Espinoza and husband, Sylvester; and two granddaughters, Sofia and Adriana Espinoza, all of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Carol Slingsby.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Zurich.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present at Brock's Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
