Robert E. Hiser, 61, Hays, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City.

He was born May 5, 1952, in Hays to Charles L. and Ruth Virginia (Thompson) Hiser. He was a 1970 graduate of Norton High School. He graduated from Fort Hays State University.

He married Betty Spratling on Nov. 1, 1974, in Norton. He was a project superintendent for 26 years with Paul-Wertenberger Construction Co. in Hays.

He was member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; twin daughters, Andrea Oldham and husband, Kevin, and Amy Charpie and husband, John, all of Lee's Summit, Mo.; his mother, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Tom Hiser and wife, Vickie, Seward, Neb.; a sister, Mary Harvey and husband, Jack, Norton; and three grandchildren, Gracie, Ella and Landon.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2703 Fort, Hays; inurnment will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Norton City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Road, Ste. 100, Merriam, KS 66204, or Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas Inc.
