Robert F. "Bob" Klaus, 74, Hays, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home.

He was born June 1, 1939, in Ellis County to Isidore and Anna (Meier) Klaus.

He married Alberta Befort on Oct. 9, 1961, in Antonino.

He was a longtime heating and air-conditioning contractor, being a co-owner of K&W Heating and Air and then owner of Klaus Heating and Air. He also was employed at Fort Hays State University in the residential life department, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Third Degree Knights of Columbus Schoenchen Council.

He enjoyed playing cards and taking drives in the country. He was an avid follower of the sporting activities of his daughters and granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Hays; two daughters, Marj and husband, Tony Marcinelli, Knoxville, Tenn., and Gwen Klaus, Hays; a sister, Lillian Jacobs and husband, Gene, Hays; a sister-in-law, Mary Klaus, Schoenchen; three grandchildren, Charlsie Klaus, Hays, and Anthony and Joseph Marcinelli, both of Knoxville; his dog, Macie; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Julius, Lavern and Edward; and three sisters, Esther Rogers, Verneda "Neats" Dorathy and Mary Alice Rupp.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, both at Brock's Funeral Home, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
