Roman 'Roy' Charles Zimmerman

Roman "Roy" Charles Zimmerman, 83, Hays, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 21, 1930, in Schoenchen to Carl and Lucy (Herl) Zimmerman.

He married Ruth Kronewitter on Aug. 13, 1951, in Schoenchen.

He enjoyed his family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, farming and gambling.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays; a son, Keith Zimmerman and wife, Anne, Hays; four daughters, Sandy Sanders and Kay Werth and husband, Loran, all of Hays, Sheila Kelsay and husband, Larry, Wichita, and Karen Kisner and husband, Dale, Victoria; a brother, Carl Zimmerman, Schoenchen; a sister, Roseann Rupp, Hays; eight grandsons; six granddaughters; nine great-grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lester Zimmerman; and a son-in-law, James F. Werth.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to DeBakey Heart Institute at Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
