Roman Leo Wiesner, 82, Ellis, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 6, 1931, in Ellis to Frank A. and Rose (Lattigan) Wiesner.

He married Freda Marie Leiker on April 23, 1952, in Munjor. He was a farmer and stockman on the family farm north of Ellis.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

He served in the National Guard.

He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle.

Survivors include his wife, Ellis; five sons, Ted Wiesner and wife, Colleen, Lubbock, Texas, Patrick Wiesner, Lawrence, currently stationed in Afghanistan serving in the U.S. Army Reserve; Mike Wiesner, Ellis, Larry Wiesner and wife, Lynn, St. Louis, and Donnie Wiesner and wife, Lori, Wichita; two daughters, Mona Pratt and husband, Gary, Stillwater, Okla., and Elise Carter and husband, Randy, Norman, Okla.; a sister, Rosemary Larson, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Wiesner; a brother, Francis Wiesner; and a sister, Lillian Hutchison.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, both at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.

A Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
