Rudolph A. 'Rudy' Weber

Rudolph A. "Rudy" Weber, 90, La Crosse, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.

He was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Ellis to Frank A. and Appolonia (Schaffer) Weber. He was a 1942 graduate of Grinnell High School. He was a 39-year resident of La Crosse, moving from Gove.

He married Violet C. Weiser on June 10, 1946, in Grainfield. He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30-plus years before his retirement in 1990. He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2864, Grinnell; American Legion Post 303, Grainfield; and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2970, La Crosse.

Survivors include his wife, La Crosse; two sons, Butch Weber, and wife, Carol, Grainfield, and Jerry Weber, and wife, Marla, Elizabeth, Colo.; two daughters, Marilyn Hughes and husband, Jess, Salina, and Deloris Zelfer and husband, Tom, Grainfield; four brothers, Charlie Weber and Ron Weber, both of Goodland, Delbert Weber, Limon, Colo., and Benny Weber, St. Francis; a sister, Mary Garnhart, Limon; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill Weber, Adolph Weber and Lenny Weber; and three sisters, Viola Weiser, Florina Schuster and Esther Laverenz.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice at Hays Medical Center or Masses in care of the funeral home.
