Russell Lohrey, 88, La Crosse, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 17, 1926, in rural Bison to Phillip and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Reichel) Lohrey. He was a 1943 graduate of Bison High School.
He married Mary Virginia Meistrell on July 31, 1949, in Plainville. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1998. He was a rancher and farmer all his life in Rooks, Ellis and Rush counties. He was an auctioneer and real estate broker in Rush County, and owned and operated Lohrey Real Estate with his wife for a number of years.
Survivors include a son, John Phillip Lohrey and wife, Cathy Ochs, Bison; three daughters, Susan (Lohrey) Moeder and husband, Leon, and Mary Elizabeth Lohrey and husband, Ed Walsh, all of Wichita, and Cynthia Lohrey and husband, Jay Pfeiffer, McCracken; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Rosa and Velma.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, La Crosse.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse.
Memorials are suggested to Bison Public Library or Rush County Fair in care of the funeral home.
