Ruth Lorene (Marhenke) Tatkenhorst

Ruth Lorene (Marhenke) Tatkenhorst, 89, Natoma, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Parkview Care Center, Osborne.

She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Rooks County to Walter C. and Marie (Luhman) Marhenke. She grew up in the Natoma and Laton area.

She married Arthur Henry Tatkenhorst on March 4, 1943, in Natoma. He preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1974. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Allen Tatkenhorst, Cuba, Mo.; two daughters, Jolene Gibbs, Steelville, Mo., and Ann Tatkenhorst, Natoma; a sister, Mary Ann Thaemert, Natoma; six grandsons; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church; burial in North Lutheran Cemetery, north of Natoma.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour, sponsored by Peace Lutheran and the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
