Sean Patrick Mannell

Sean Patrick Mannell, 40, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at his parents' home in Hays after a long illness.

He was born May 1, 1972, in Topeka to Terry and Sam Mannell. He grew up in Hays and was a 1990 graduate of Hays High School. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Kansas State University in 1994.

After graduating, he worked as an engineer in Moundridge and Shawnee. He was a pilot and loved to fly.

He enjoyed fishing, freshwater aquariums and Kansas State football.

Survivors include his parents, Hays; a brother, Brenden and wife and two children; and his grandparents, Al and Joyce Mannell, Bonita Springs, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Nadine Holton.

Services will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Washington School in care of USD 489 Foundation and can be sent to the family or Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601. Condolences can be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com.
