Shirley E. Smith, 77, Hill City, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Dawson Place Nursing Home, Hill City.

She was born Oct. 5, 1935, in rural Garfield County, Neb., to William D. and Iva Marie (Davis) Apperson.

She married Jimmie W. Smith on June 5, 1955, in Garnett. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Hill City; two sons, Mark A. Smith, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Craig Bloomsmith, Peach Tree City, Ga.; a sister, Winifred Horn, Clovis, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hill City Christian Church; burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Monday at Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City.

Memorials are suggested to Manhattan Christian College in care of the funeral home.
