Sister Kathleen Nelessen CSA

Sister Kathleen Catherine Nelessen CSA, formerly Sister Kateri, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at Nazareth Court and Center, Fond du Lac, Wis.

She was born Nov. 29, 1941, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, Wis., to Mary (Van Lanen) Nelessen and Norbert A. Nelessen.

She entered the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on Sept. 10, 1964, and made her first profession of vows Aug. 15, 1967. She graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in July 1964 and earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Marian College in December 1968. She ministered as a nurse for 22 years at various locations, including St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac; St. Clare Hospital, Monroe, Wis.; St. John's Rest Home, Victoria; St. Anthony Hospital, Hospice of the Plains and St. John's Rest Home, all of Hays; and the Chippewa Health Center, Lac du Flambeau, Wis. She served in congregational leadership as a regional coordinator for eight years and ministered at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, in spiritual care for the last five years. For 24 1/2 years, she struggled with cancer while continuing to minister to those in need with joy and compassion.

Services were April 10 in Fond du Lac.
