Sister Valeria Brungardt

Sister Valeria Brungardt, CSA, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services.
She was born July 14, 1927, in Victoria to Ambrose Brungardt and Adelia Dreiling. She made her profession of vows in the Congregation of St. Agnes on Aug. 15, 1949. She received certification in X-ray technology in 1960 and certification in Clinical Pastoral Education in 1974. Before her work in health care, she ministered at Holy Family Orphanage in Marquette, Mich., as prefect of girls ages 3 to 8. She also worked as a laboratory aide at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, Wis., and at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She served as an X-ray technologist in Fond du Lac, Monroe and at St. Thomas Hospital, Colby. She ministered in pastoral care at St. Agnes Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita, and St. Anthony Hospital, Hays.
Survivors include a brother, Paul Brungardt and wife, Mildred, Victoria; two sisters, Yvonne Rohleder Braun and husband, Ken, Hays, and Ruth Polifka, Catharine; many nieces and nephews; and the sisters of St. Agnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gilbert; and three sisters, LuVerna Schulte, Patricia Schmidt and Cecilia Brungardt.
A mass of Christian burial was Saturday at St. Francis Home Chapel; burial in St. Joseph Springs Cemetery.
Additional services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 2 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria.
