Gregory David Stegman, 59, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.
He was born March 11, 1953, in Hays to Elsie (Jacobs) and Felix Stegman. He attended public high school in Ellis County, where he grew up. Upon returning from the service, he worked most of his life as a welder and in automobile sales. After retiring from a long and successful career in the automotive industry, he worked at the Bass Pro Shop in Katy, Texas, before moving to West Virginia. He spent the better half of his life in Texas and was a resident of Kingwood, Texas, for almost 20 years. He spent the last six years of his life with his wife in Nettie, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1970 to 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stegman, Nettie; two sons, Gregg Stegman Jr. and Ian Stegman, both of Kingwood; two daughters, Tara Smith, Conroe, Texas, and Christina Stegman, McAllen, Texas; a stepdaughter, Megan Murphy, Lawrence; four brothers, Bradford Stegman, Larned, Wesley Stegman, Tigard, Ore., Mark Stegman, Great Bend, and Brent Stegman, Olathe; six sisters; Sharon Rollins, King George, Va., Shelly Harrell and Faye Wiesner, both of Hays, Pamela Reitmeyer, Kansas City, Mo., Dorrene Wahlmeier, Wamego, and Tracy Augustine, Ellis; and nine grandchildren, Brandon Stegman, Devin Smith, Mariah Stegman, Julianna Mihealsick, Dylan Mihealsick, Brittney Smith, Jamie Mihealsick, Jacobi Stegman and Elizabeth Teresa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Eldon, Stanley and Bruce Stegman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
