Sylvia M. Edwards, 87, Bison, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

She was born April 5, 1927, in Hays to A.R. and Seraphine (Ruder) Miller. She was a resident of Rush County since 1955, moving from Hays. She was a 1945 graduate of Hays High School.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church Choir, and St. Ann's Altar Society, all of Timken. She was a religious education teacher for many years.

She married Elbert A. "Bert" Edwards on Aug. 4, 1955, in Hays. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Bison; a daughter, Pam Pechanec, Topeka; a sister, Pat Schmidtberger, Victoria; and a granddaughter, Pennelton Rose Pechanec.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jeremy Pechanec; five brothers, Clarence Miller, Linus Miller, Wayne Miller, Harlan Miller and Don Miller; and two sisters, Alice McCord and Inez Mai.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Monday at the church.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Mass, in care of the funeral home.
