Theodore Malsom

Theodore 'Ted' Malsom, 84, Collyer, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.

He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in rural Trego County to Fredrick and Mary (Keller) Malsom.

He married Marcella (Dinkel) Malsom on Aug. 14, 1945, in Collyer. She preceded him in death May 29, 2005. He was a owner and operator of Malsom Construction, Topeka.

Survivors include a son, Ray Malsom, Topeka; three daughters, Linda Nunnery and Charlene Malsom, both of Topeka, and Beverly Brouhard, Collyer; five brothers, Larry Malsom, Colorado, Tony Malsom, Great Bend, Charles Malsom, Nowego, Mich., John Malsom, Fort Bragg, Calif., and Jim Yanda, White Salmon, Wash.; a half-brother, LaVerne Malsom, Lima, Ohio; a sister, Kathy Reitmayer, Quinter; three half-sisters, Barbara Kinderknecht, Park, and Carol McIntosh and Rita Mader, both of Quinter; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Schweitzer; and a grandson.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer; burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Collyer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Michael Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
