Justin James Urban, 77, La Crosse, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse.

He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Bison to Wendelin and Rose Mary (Leiker) Urban. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County. He attained his GED from Barton County Community College, Great Bend, in 1980.

He married Mary A. Pechanec on May 8, 1976, in Timken. He was a plumber for Marlette Coach Co., Great Bend, before his retirement.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2970, both of La Crosse.

Survivors include his wife, La Crosse; five daughters, Julie Brown, and significant other, Scott Kinder, Denton, Texas, Sherri Herrman, and husband, Darryl Herrman, La Crosse, Tammy Orth, Dallas, Wendy Seltman, and husband, Luke, La Crosse, and Megan Penka, and husband, Jason, Hays; a brother, Norbert Urban; five sisters, Bernita Clair, Ellinwood, Edna Giebler, Hays, Luceda Hager, Lyons, Doris Armstrong, Springfield, Mo., and Charlene Kreutzer, Great Bend; six grandchildren, Mathew Brown, Jenna Brown, Tiffany Orth, Patrick McCarroll, Adrian McCarroll and Nicholas Penka; and two great-grandchildren, Margo Brown and Sydney Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myrna (Jones) Urban on Nov. 3, 1974; a brother, Gilbert Urban; and a half-sister, Alice Heep.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, in care of the funeral home.
