Velma Lucille Lowry

Velma Lucille Lowry, 85, Hays, formerly of Norton and Phillips counties, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Via Christi Village, Hays.
She was born April 1, 1928, in Norton County to Charles William and Ida Myrtle (Putman) Havens. She grew up in Norton County and attended the local schools.
She married Jack Lowry on Sept. 5, 1947, in Norton. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a member of Norton Christian Church, Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge, where she was a member of the Past Noble Grand Club.
She enjoyed handiwork, quilting and her family.
Survivors include a son, Myron Lowry and wife, Diane, Florissant, Mo.; two daughters, Susan Baczkowski and husband, Pierre, and Roberta Schukman and husband, Dennis, all of Hays; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Roscoe Havens; an infant brother, Lloyd Havens; and four sisters, Violet Stover, Vera VanDerWege, Viola Collins and Marie Delimont.
Services were Monday at Enfield Funeral Home, Norton; burial in Norton Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Via Christi Village, Hays Hospice or Norton Eagles Club in care of the funeral home.
