Vernon Zane Krahl

Vernon Zane Krahl, 77, Salina, died Saturday, May 24, 2008. Mr. Krahl was born June 13, 1930 in Kensington, the son of Joseph G. and Libby (Rehor) Krahl. He was the owner of Zane's Antique Cars Parts for 27 years and also retired from Pest Control Management. He married Mary Frances Thyfault on February 20, 1950 in Stockton. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Salina Midway Antique Auto Club, Kansas Antique Racers, Wichita A's, Wichita Horseless Carriage Club and the Heart of America Model A Ford Club. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mary Frances, Zane is survived by three sons, Rod and wife Kathy of Bennington, Todd and wife Sherry of Salina and Jeff and wife Lynda of McPherson; two daughters, Sr. Julie Ann Krahl, C.S.A., Ph.D. of Downers Grove, IL and Becky Krahl, Ph.D. of Topeka; a sister, Jean Ellen Holtslander of Point, TX; and four grandchildren, Devin, Kylie, Taylor and Paige Krahl.

The funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and a vigil/rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
