Walter John Hemman

Walter John Hemman, 81, Hoxie, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born April 30, 1932, in Sheridan County to Louis and Ida (Herring) Hemman.

He married Shirley (Mowry) Hemman on Feb. 14, 1965, in Sheridan County.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Nathan Hemman, Seneca; two daughters, Treva Levering, Coldwater, and Darcee Redden, Salina; three sisters, Louise Oelke, Hoxie, Irene Hedge, Doctors Inlet, Fla., and Lil Harms, Canyon City, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hoxie; burial in Hoxie City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.

Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hour Ministries, Sheridan County Library, or Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
