Wayne E. Rhoades, 87, Wichita, formerly of Quinter, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Sandpiper Bay Healthcare Center, Wichita.

He was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Quinter to Frank and Bertha (Porter) Rhoades.

He married Doris V. Jamison on Nov. 3, 1942. She preceded him in death Feb. 28, 1989. He later married Phyllis Rhoades on Oct. 28, 1989. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Robert Rhoades, Quinter, Richard "Rick" Rhoades, Oakley, Clarence Rymer, Michael Hyatt and Timmie Hyatt, all of Wichita, and Jimmie Hyatt, Castle Rock, Colo.; a daughter, Tammie Rasmussen, Valley Center; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Rhoades.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Brethren, Quinter; burial in Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.
