Ambrose A. Weber, 80, Ellis, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Ellis to John Sr. and Thresia (Augustine) Weber.

He married Freda Weber on June 5, 1951, in Ellis. She preceded him in death May 25, 2006. He was a farmer/dairyman. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Ellis Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include three sons, Allen and wife, Kim, Mark and wife, Lisa, all of Ellis, and Brian and wife, Kimberly, Manhattan; six daughters, Susan Geist and husband, Henry, Geri Koerner and husband, Kevin, and Mary Hickman and husband, Troy, all of Hays. Rosann Weber, Plainville, Bernie Reifschneider and husband, Bruce, La Crosse, and Brenda Langdon and husband, Troy, Larned; a brother, John Weber Jr., Ellis; four sisters, Katie Eberle, Wakeeney, Anna Geist and Helen Pfeifer, both of Ellis, and Thresia Aschenbrenner, Brewster.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda; two sons; Ambrose Jr. and Bernard; three brothers, Ig, Joseph and Mike; and two sisters, JoAnna and Josephine.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a wake at 7 p.m., both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary School or the Neuropathy Association in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis.
