Wilfred 'Bill' Dreiling

Wilfred "Bill" Dreiling, 82, Topeka, died Friday Feb. 15, 2013, in Topeka.

He was born March 10, 1930, in Victoria to Anselm and Hermelena (Leiker) Dreiling.

He married Rita Denning on Feb. 18, 1952, in Victoria. In 1955, they moved to Topeka, where he received his master of education degree at Washburn University. He was a teacher for six years and a principal for 27 years for the Topeka Public School District and retired in 1991. He joined the Army in 1951, where he served in Korea. He was awarded the Korean service medal with two bronze stars, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans and Retired Principles.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lena Schwarm and husband, Steve, Olathe, Anita Curry and husband, Mike, and Melissa Miller and husband, Brad, all of Topeka; three sisters, Hedwig Matthews, Arizona, Blanche King, Texas, and Mary Bacchus, Virginia; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Curry, Spencer Curry, Zachary Miller and Benjamin Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Othmar, Daniel and Gilbert; and a sister, Lioba Lewis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church; private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels or Grace Hospice in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
