William 'Bill' Berryman

William "Bill" Berryman, 68, Great Bend, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home.

He was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Newton to William Golden "Bo" and Molly Nelvina (Hill) Berryman.

He married Victoria Kay Shoemaker on March 9, 1965, in Newton.

He began working as a lineman in 1965 for Central Kansas Electric Cooperative, which then became Midwest Energy Inc. He climbed the ranks as serviceman, staking engineer and community representative, retiring from Midwest Energy in 2008 after 42 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, William Layne Berryman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Darci Reneƃ© Berryman Blum, Manhattan; three grandchildren, Jotni Berryman Pankey, Kialy Berryman and Jaedyn Berryman; and a great-grandchild, Coranda Pankey.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Kans for Kids in care of the funeral home.
