William Nemechek

William "Bill" Nemechek, 84, WaKeeney, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.

He was born Aug. 5, 1925, in rural Ellis County to Louis and Johanna (Gaschler) Nemechek.

He married Marjorie (O'Rourke) Nemechek on Oct. 3, 1945. She preceded him in death Oct. 16, 2005. He was co-owner of Bill's Liquor Store.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Nemechek, Lincoln, Calif., Larry Nemechek, Marietta, Ga., and Greg Nemechek, Overland Park; three daughters, Patty Hall, Reno, Nev., Sharon Lacy, Los Angeles, and Renee Willhite, Overland Park; two brothers, Douglas Nemechek, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Richard Nemechek, WaKeeney; four sisters, Charlotte Albers, Grinnell, Betty Lipp, Collyer, and Darlene Tomanek and Mary Jo McClanahan, both of WaKeeney; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney; burial in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or Christ the King Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
