William Dana Miner, 65, Ness City, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1948, in Great Bend to Alden B. and Gwen L. Miner.

He was a graduate of Kansas State University.

He married Beth Gieber on April 16, 1971.

He was a member of Rotary Club, Boy Scout Council and United Methodist Church. He was a member of the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and American Yankee Association. He was an avid historian, outdoorsman and a dedicated musician. He was the operator of Miner Bros. Co. in Ness City since 1975. He was a member of Frank Stull American Legion Post 152, Ness City. He flew 106 fighter jets in the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command in the early 1970s and continued flying throughout his life.

Survivors include his parents; a daughter, Andi Miner Washburn and husband, Dr. Shannon Washburn, Manhattan; a son, Dr. Daniel Miner, Hays; a brother, Dennis Miner and wife, Judy, Shawnee Mission; and five grandchildren, Anna and Kate Washburn and Wilson, Ansen and Jensen Miner.

A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City; cremation has taken place.

Memorials are suggested to Ness County Home Health or Cancer Care Center, Great Bend.
