William T. "Bill" Tripp, 91, Russell, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in Salina.
He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Cole County, Mo., to William M. and Anna (Lister) Tripp. He grew up in Missouri and graduated from New Bloomfield High School in Missouri.
He married Sylvia Teach in 1944. She preceded him in death. He worked in oil fields near Russell and the surrounding area until retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Robert T. Tripp, Magazine, Ark.; a daughter, Sheryl Ann Moore, Hutchinson; a sister, Gloria Mitchell, Mexico, Mo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Teach; and a granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Russell City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, with family present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
Memorials are suggested to Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240 in care of the mortuary.
