Margaret J. 'Peg' Woods

Margaret J. "Peg" Woods, 88, Hays, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Galveston, Texas, to Wil R. and Estelle (Crisman) Johnson.

She married Harlie D. "Spec" Woods Jr. on Sept. 12, 1947, in Galveston. They moved to Hays from Clovis, N.M., in 1952.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hays. She was a past state president and past state board member, serving seven years on the State P.E.O., and was a charter member of the Hays P.E.O. Chapter I H. She had a pilot's license, loved to fly, make crafts and volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She was a graduate of Fort Hays Kansas State College with a master's degree in English and taught speech for a few years.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Richard Crisman "Cris" Woods and wife, Corine, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Patti (Woods) Revell, Dallas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 2900 Hall. A private family inurnment will be at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Memorials are suggested to Big Brothers Big Sisters or Hospice of Hays Medical Center.

Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
