Margene M. Griffin, 85, Colby, died Feb. 26, 2013, at Citizens Medical Center, Colby.

She was born March 20, 1927, in rural Osborne County to Frank and Carrie (Henke) Gradig.

She married Jay Griffin on May 2, 1949, in Colby. He preceded her in death April 15, 2008. She was a registered nurse for 42 years before retiring in the early 1990s.

Survivors include six daughters, Janette Clapp and fiance, Dave Schissler, McCook, Neb., Janice Bjurstrom and husband, Leo, Leoti, Jane Maddy and husband Kerry, Altus, Okla., JoAnn Linnell and husband, Mark, Goddard, Jerri Griffin, Hutchinson, and Janell Griffin, Colby; two sons, Jim Griffin and wife, Kacy, and Jeff Griffin and wife, Jennifer, all of Colby; two sisters, Della Kubicki, Columbus, Ohio, and Annie Grealish, Winder, Ga.; a brother, Dick Gradig, Downs; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Gradig and Ray Gradig; a sister, Joan Helmer; and a great granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Colby.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, with a vigil at 7.

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pioneer Memorial Library or Prairie Museum of Art and History.
