Ian Ross Philip

Ian Ross Philip, 55, Hays, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Deseret Care Center, Wichita.

He was born July 21, 1958, in Hays to George "Scotty" and Jacqulyn (Clowers) Philip IV. He was a 1976 graduate of Hays High School and received a diploma from NCKA Vo-Tech in plumbing, heating and air conditioning in 1996.

He was an avid motorcyclist until his accident in 2002 and was a member of a local club, "Free Tomorrow." Among his interests was model rocketry and he often taught Boy Scouts in that portion of their aerospace merit badge.

Survivors include his brothers, George Philip V and Gordon Philip, both of Hays; a sister, Sheilah Ann Philip, Overland Park.

Memorial services will be Aug. 10, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, from 11 a.m. to noon with a family eulogy at 11 a.m., followed by the family receiving friends until noon. Private inurnment will be in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays.

Memorials are suggested to Ian Ross Philip Memorial Fund to be used at a later date.
