Sheryl Dinkel Powers, 45, Sherman, Texas, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Sherman.

She was born May 13, 1967, in Quinter to Rudolph and JoAnn Dinkel.

She graduated from Grainfield-Wheatland High School, Fort Hays State University and Texas A&M-Commerce. She began her teaching career in Palco before moving to Texas in the early 1990s. She had served as principal of Sherman's Dilingham Intermediate School in Sherman, Texas, since 2009.

Survivors include a daughter, Samantha, of the home; her parents, Quinter; three brothers, Ron and wife Vickie, Emporia; Allan and wife Wanda, Quinter, and Tom and wife, Nancy, Garden City; and two sisters, Kaye Goetz and husband Albert, Park, and Kathy Mathes and husband Mike, Topeka.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield; burial in Grainfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter. A separate memorial service was Saturday at Sherman Bible Church, Sherman, Texas.

Memorials are suggested to the Samantha Powers Education Fund, in care of American Bank of Texas, P.O. Box 1234, Sherman, TX 75091-1234.
