Darrell Duane Javens, 60, Russell, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Russell Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1956, in Oroville, Calif., to Melvin D. and Ruth M. (Willis) Javens. He was a graduate of Oroville High School and attended Butte College and was trained in firefighting.
He married Dolores L. Charter on July 18, 2003, in Reno, Nev., He was a firefighter for most of his life and reached the rank of chief. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Russell; a son, Leslie Javens, Russell; three daughters, Malissa Pacheco, Houston, Kathy Moss and Kristina Javens, both of Oroville; a son, Brandon Kervin, Oroville, Calif.; a stepdaughter Sheila Ogilvie-Funk, Russell; a stepson, Paul Corwin, Russell and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Brian Brackenbury.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the 2nd Baptist Church in Russell; cremation has preceded the service and burial of the cremains will take place in the Cherokee Cemetery, Cherokee, Calif., at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the 2nd Baptist Church, Russell, in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
