Larry J. Augustine, 61, Neosho, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Overland Park following an illness.
He was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Hays to Clarence and Matilda (Sanders) Augustine.
He married Tina (Vinson) on July 31, 1993.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1974 to 1977, and was stationed in San Diego. During his service time, he was involved in evacuations from Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he earned bachelor degrees in Pychology and education from MSSU. He also earned a master’s degree in Education from MSU.
He played college baseball and was a former semi-pro baseball player. He taught middle school for the Diamond School District and following his retirement from education, was a realtor at Show Me Real Estate. He enjoyed fishing, serving others and spending time with his family.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Neosho.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Blake Augustine and Zach Workman, of the home; two daughters, Charity Hootman and husband, Matt, Austin, Texas and Casie Ouren and husband, Matt, Joplin, Mo.; his stepfather, Gene Kippes and wife, Neyla; a brother, Ron Augustine and wife, Deb, Hays; and three grandchildren, Trevyn, Grace and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Neosho; burial in Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, south of Neosho with military honors.
Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund in care of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
