Alfred John Hammeke, 86, Claflin, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Ellinwood District Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1931, in Claflin to Joseph and Mary (Heinz) Hammeke.
He married Linda Sue Simpson on April 23, 1957, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a longtime Barton County farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; seven daughters, Kathy Hines, Ellinwood, Anne Basgall , Hays, Margaret Frisbie , Claflin, Patty Sager, Brighton, Colo., Loreen Leyshock and Molly Stout, both of Littleton, Colo., and Coreen Skaggs, Chapin, S.C. ; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin; burial in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ellinwood with military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Saints Peter and Paul Historical Fund in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
