Dale E. Silkman, 66, Hays, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Hays to Max and Dorothy (Wassinger) Silkman. He was a 1969 graduate of Hays High School.
He served in the National Guard during the 1970s.
He enjoyed reading, learning history and was considered a history buff. He enjoyed art and loved to draw. He returned to school and obtained his master’s degree in art with an emphasis in print making from Fort Hays State University, graduating in 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Allen and husband, Dustin, Blue Springs, Mo., and Sarah Silkman, Hays; the mother of his children, Marian Silkman, Hays; three sisters, Patty Robben and husband, Melvin, Salina, Debra Silkman and Marissa Hatfield and husband, Dave, all of Tulsa, Okla.; and a granddaughter, Adaleigh Allen, Blue Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
A recital of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
