Ross A. Potter, 91, Arnold, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Rhode Island Suites, Ransom.

He was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Burdett to Robert Harrison “Harry” and Beatrice Ellen Miller Potter.

He married Phyllis Shearer on July 19, 1949, in Arnold. He was a farmer and rancher, and raised Appaloosa horses for many years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving with the 36th Fighter Squadron (the Flying Fiends) of the 8th Fighter Group.

He was a member of the Ransom Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 7972, the Ness City American Legion Frank Stull Post No. 152, and the Arnold United Methodist Church. He served on the board of Production Credit Association and the Ness County Soil Conservation District.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard H. Potter and wife, Peggy, Ness City; a daughter, Sandra L. Potter, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Reni Potter-Wood, Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Jennie Tillitson, Ransom; three grandchildren, Amanda Bardwell, Emily Palmer and Ryan Potter; and four great-grandchildren, Gracie Palmer, Michael Potter, Reece Bardwell and Brynn Bardwell.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Potter; and a sister, Vera Breit.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Arnold Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
