Albert “Bud” Malsam, 89, WaKeeney, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, WaKeeney.

He was born June 22, 1928, in rural Collyer to George and Frances Clara (Keller) Malsam.

He married Dora Lee Gano on Aug. 19, 1950, in Collyer. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1968. He later married Roseann Schmidt on April 17, 1971, in Dodge City. She preceded him in death April 9, 2015.

He owned and operated Malsam Terracing Company for many years.  

Survivors include a son, Doug Malsam, WaKeeney; five daughters, Colleen Taylor, Litchfield Park, Ariz., Judy Hearting, WaKeeney, Jody Hoeffner, Las Vegas, Micki Hammer, Olathe and Vicki Smith, Woodbury, Minn.; a brother, George Malsam, Denver; four sisters, Georgi Austin, Medicine Lodge, Gerry Wildeman, Denver, Madeline Gallagher, Fort Collins, Colo., and Lavetta Kazda, Chicago; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation (Long Term Care or Assisted Living), or Christ the King Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
