Michael John Hake, 58, Colby, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 13, 1959, in Hays to Joseph and Thelma (Dreiling) Hake. He was a graduate of Plainville High School and attended Fort Hays State University.
He married Cindy Davis on April 28, 1970, in Plainville. He worked for Farm Bureau for 31 years and owned Overtime Liquor in Colby for 10 years.
He was a member of Oakley United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and Colby CrossFit Gym.
He enjoyed carpentry, crossfit, KU basketball and he spent countless hours on his deck watching Royals baseball. He enjoyed his family, proud of his daughters and their families and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Julie Baalmann, and husband, David, Louisburg, and Jennifer Sabath and husband, Rick, Olathe; three brothers, Bill Hake and wife, Rosie, Newton, Dean Hake and wife, Becky, Hutchinson, and Jim Hake and wife, Cathy, Cleveland; three sisters, Judy Wilson and husband, Max, Hutchinson, Brenda Gilliland and husband, Phil, Concordia and Karen Reed and husband, David, Stockton; seven grandchildren, Kylie, Carson and Connor Baalmann, Brett, Drew, Abby and Chloe Sabath; his mother-in-law, Nancy Davis, Plainville; a sister-in-law, Wendy Hageman and husband, Don, McCook, Neb.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Russell Davis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oakley United Methodist Church; burial will be at 3 p.m. in Plainville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
Memorials are suggested to Oakley United Methodist Church or Foundation for Hope in care of the mortuary.
